I can live with the bittersweet of this because there was that quality in the scenes in canon. Bill and Laura are together but they're also hiding from each other and what's to come next for the Fleet and for them.
He would absolutely feel that as you point out so well.

I can't say I dislike this piece for this would be a big lie, but I can't say I love it either for reasons see above. ;)

I read vague spoilers about Laura still discontinuing treatment (which I always thought would be the case), then I walked the dog and there it was - this mini plot bunny I just had to get out. I tried to fend it off but actually seeing the ep didn't help. Sorry.
