Daybreak and watching Bill sit by Laura's grave, utterly alone, will always feel like a punch to my gut. The first part of this piece gives me that same sensation. The ending, though, is soothing to my soul as Bill and Laura are reunited for eternity. Beautifully written. Thanks for posting.

"It was not noble; they found no self-satisfying solace in silent restraint. It is a terrible love, and he does not wish it upon anyone else."

Everything in this was beautiful. But this stuck out to me as particularly poignant. Terrific.
